NoxLAN v3.0.0 Games list

The votes are in, we now have a list of small games and BIG games to get pre-installed before the LAN starts!

  • Small games are ones that people are interested in playing but generally support fewer than 16 players. As such there will likely be played ad-hoc.
  • BIG games on the other hand will be timetabled and support more than 16 players so everyone can join for multiplayer mayhem!

Check out the links below and get those games and tools downloaded!

Cut off date for updates and Steam / Origin / Battle.NET / Uplay offline mode is Wednesday 22nd August!

NoxLAN 2.0 – After Action Report

Thanks everyone for a great NoxLAN 2.0, it was great to see you all there! I’m not massively sure what to put in this, so I’ll start from the beginning!

I arrived at the venue at around 14:30, with a Sam in tow, and we got to work sweeping the floors, arranging tables and chairs, and wiring all the power and network cables. Sam did a great job in taping the cables to make sure they weren’t a trip hazard. Woo Sam! Look at this lovely picture, it’s amazing.

We mostly followed the timetabled games, with the glaring omission of OpenTTD. Dom and Tom showed their prowess at being able to point and click in CS Source, Alex destroyed everyone in the TrackMania Nations competition, and Matt was nuked several times by several people (as is unfortunate custom).

The main games we played were Counter-Strike Source, Left 4 Dead 2, TrackMania Nations, OpenRA and Renegade X, with some fun side games such as various flavours of Dawn of War, Zandronum, Age of Empires II HD, C&C Generals Zero Hour and Risk of Rain. Also played were some fun party games like Overcooked, Hidden in Plain sight and the various JackBox games like FibbageXL, Quiplash and Trivia Murder Party.

As mentioned Alex won the TrackMania Nations competition, of which there is a video! Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed the video full of larks, japes and tomfoolery, but you’re probably here to read all about the winners!

A week to go until NoxLAN 2.0!

There’s just over a week to go until NoxLAN 2.0 opens its doors! It’s time to…

Make sure that you have the games mentioned on the timetable installed, and any other games on the PC Games list that you want to play. There is also a shared spreadsheet you can update with other games you might wish to play with others, to get them bought/downloaded/installed before the LAN starts.

Although I’ve posted it before here’s the checklist of information to keep in mind.

Update on venue and sign ups

There are a few promising options for alternative venues for if the Heaton Norris Scout Hut is unavailable. I will post when this is discussed with those who have signed up and I have confirmed with the venue.

I have also had a few prohibitively expensive offers from some other venues, which are juuuust slightly out of the budget range… so unless someone has a spare £1500 burning a hole in their pocket I probably won’t be considering them! Granted, this was for a major hotel conferencing suite with all the modcons.

We also have 3 spaces left out of the initial 20 slots! So get registering your interest if you want to be in with a chance to get into this LAN.

Venue update

Unfortunately, there has been an issue in the booking for Heaton Norris Scout Hut, and we might not be able to book it for the weekend overnight.

Plans are in motion to find another venue if it falls through. Depending on the cost of hiring the venue, the ticket price might go up slightly to cover the difference.

If all else fails, we’ll have to cancel, but it hopefully won’t come to that.
